Symphony Foundation Announces Board Appointment

Reid Parker, president of Symphony New Brunswick Foundation Inc./La Fondation Symphonique Nouveau-Brunswick Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek G. Pannell to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Pannell is a Corporate Director and the Board Chair of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners Limited. He is Chair of Nutrien Ltd. He was previously the Chairman of Agrium Inc, African Barrick, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Noranda Inc. and Falconbridge Limited from 2001 to August 2006 and Vice President, Operations of Compania Minera Antamina from 1998 to 2001. He serves as a Commissioner on the Board of Saint John Energy. Mr. Pannell is a graduate of Imperial College in London, England and the Royal School of Mines, London, England (ARSM) and an engineer registered in Québec and Peru. He holds B.Sc. (Engineering), P. Eng, a fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Engineers and is an Honorary Professor of Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, Lima, Peru.

Mr. Pannell joins the Foundation Board comprised of Mr. Parker, John Fitzgerald and Ronald Outerbridge, all of Rothesay, N.B. and Susan Dewar and Paul Leger, both of Saint Andrews, N.B.

Symphony New Brunswick Foundation Inc. is a registered charity based in Saint John, N.B. Although the Foundation and Symphony New Brunswick Inc. are independent organizations, the Foundation’s sole purpose is to support the programs of Symphony New Brunswick Inc.

Symphony New Brunswick Inc. operates the Province’s only full-scale, full season professional symphony orchestra as well as Camerata New Brunswick, a 20 member professional chamber orchestra. The Company also hosts the Saint John String Quartet and Ventus Machina of Moncton.
