A Message From Our President

To our valued patrons,

I hope this note finds you all well.  Thank you to those who contributed this Spring through kind words, encouragement and donations to our recent appeal.  Your thoughts and gifts will help significantly as we navigate the new normal and plan our program for 2020-2021.  The Symphony New Brunswick team truly appreciates your continued commitment.

The health and well-being of the Symphony family is our top priority and we will be keeping Public Health restrictions top of mind to ensure a safe experience for our patrons and musicians.  Our General Manager, Jennifer Grant has opened the office on Tuesdays and if you have urgent business you are able to make an appointment to speak with her.

We expect to be able to resume our Virtuoso Series this fall, and we will be announcing details in a few weeks. We are also exploring alternatives for resuming our main series and much will depend on what happens with the pandemic, the successful re-opening of our theatres, and the relaxation of travel restrictions.   As part of our re-opening strategy, we are hoping to resume auditions to fill the vacant Music Director position and, in order to do so, the candidates will need to cross Provincial borders.  It may take a few more weeks to obtain clarity about what can or cannot be done and we urge you to remain patient and watch for further announcements.

We have been fortunate to have received support from the federal and provincial governments and as a result have not had to lay off any staff.  Jennifer and Gillian are still hard at work and our core musicians have been helping us plan for next year while also working on digital educational tools and performances.

Please feel free to reach out to us at any time by contacting symphony@nbnet.nb.ca. We thank you again for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing you all in person soon.

Sincerely,

Reid Parker
President, Symphony NB
