The concert will feature works with a Russia connection; one of Joseph Haydn’s Op 33 Quartets that he dedicated to the Grand Duke Paul of Russia, nicknamed the “Bird”.
Also String Quartet No. 1 by Alexander Borodin who was one of five nationalistic Russian composers known as the “Mighty Handful”. Their aim was to create a distinctly Russian art music during the late 19th century.
