Program Notes

New Brunswick- Symphony New Brunswick celebrates this holiday season by performing some of your holiday favorites. The concerts will be conducted by guest conductor Kevin Mallon, and will feature New Brunswick soprano Sally Dibblee.

Originally from Belfast Ireland, conductor Kevin Mallon first came to Canada to take up posts with Takelmusik Music Baroque Orchestra and the University of Toronto as a baroque violinist before deciding to pursue conducting. Currently, Mallon is Music Director of the Thirteen Strings Chamber Orchestra in Ottawa and New York’s West Side Chamber Orchestra.

Mallon will lead Symphony New Brunswick in a program filled with festive works from the baroque era to the modern era including excerpts of music from Tchaikovsky’s festive ballet the Nutcracker, Handel’s renowned oratorio The Messiah, Leroy Anderson’s famous song Sleigh Ride and more by composers Lehar, Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov, Strauss and Burge.
